Hi all - I thought it might be nice to share our “your hair looks lovely” experiences to give us all a boost.  Especially after Amanda-Jane’s post about standing up to the bullies.

So…..............

I’m a new-ish CG for about a year and have found my HG products through a lot of trial and error, plus a lovely cut from the wonderful Matthew James in Birmingham.

Came into work yesterday and had no less than three people say “your hair looks great”.

Yours in curly happiness x

Hello

I am kind of new on CG but I am very close to giving up!

My curls are still very frizzy and not sure what chemical free products are the best to use!

Can you please suggest any?

Many thanks

Hi
My hair has been playing up recently, looking really frizzy, so a couple of days ago I thought I’d re-visit the Curly Girl book, and go ‘back to basics’
I co-washed and styled yesterday and today, following exactly the cherub curl directions in the book, using tresemme for co-wash, and tigi oatmeal and honey (my new favourite) for rinse out / leave in, and curl queen gel.
I’ve had really good hair days, and today, someone (with straight hair) said that my hair looked lovely, and they’d always wanted hair just like that! Result!!!!!
It could just be a change in the weather, but fingers crossed it lasts!

Curl Type: Cherub Curls (I think…)
Fine hair, normal porosity except for canopy
Highlighted to cover increasing grey confused
Trying Products:
Co-Wash - Tresemme, L’Oreal Full Restore
Rinse out - Tigi Oatmeal & Honey, L’Oreal Full Restore
Leave in - as above
Styling - CJ Curl Queen, CCCCL, CIAB, UGSJ

I know it’s great when someone says something nice eh?  I always make a point of telling other curly girls how good their hair looks!

Aw I do like “uplifting” threads. There’s nothing like a compliment out of the blue to give you that extra spring in your step. I’m with you Beebop, it’s always good to give someone that little lift.

I’d washed and dried my hair before work last week. Personally I thought it was ok, but not the best curls I’ve ever had. But a girl at work told me how much she liked my curls. Nearly fell over when she said I’d win the “best hair in the building” !

Just shows, there are so many coiffed, suited and booted women in my office (who I think straighten to look professional)-but hey own your look and love your curls !!

Would you believe I’ve just had another one and it’s second day hair - a woman in the staff restaurant said “your hair looks lovely” and her colleague said “yes and it’s natural”.  I do think it’s lovely to see something other than poker straight hair don’t you?  Yours in curly sisterhood x

Hey Knitwit

Thank you for the suggestion I am very close to giving up as my hair looks lovely when I use Boots curl cream, but I believe it’s full of chemicals :(. When I use aloe Vera gel or other more natural stuff it’s gets frizzy very quickly.

By Queen gel did you mean curl junkie one?

I think I also have cherub curls - so fingers crossed that they will turn nice and smooth one day?

Thank you for all the tips wink

Hi
Yes, I’ve found that Curl Junkie Curl Queen seems to be the best gel for me - I can’t get on with the harder hold ones

Today I went out to lunch with a couple of friends and decided to wear my hair in a twist out.  I’ve worn twist outs many times before and never really gave today’s one a second thought. However, when I met my friends, they both kept gushing over my hair telling me how good it looks throughout the whole of the four hours we were together.  I’m still smiling now smile

Here’s a pic.

I love this post Beebop! It’s really uplifting this thread, as a couple of years ago stood the test of hair being poker straight to an inch of its life for years (fashion)
I regret straightening and damaging my hair so much, come to think of it, no one complimented me for it (I was accepted for the trend) ...

However natural hair has come a hobby of mine, I love learning and focusing what I’m gifted with!
Nothing makes you feel better than a stranger or friend complimenting your naturalness!
Ever since I stood up to bullies, I knew then that I accepted myself…

Xxx
