Hi all, ive been cowashing for a few weeks now and the improvement in my curl definition has been amazing! Id say it was 3a ish, long and thick.

But…

My hair feels tangled - i comb it through in the shower though. It also feels weird - not soft like it used to!

I cowash with inecto/tresemme and use boots intensive coconut/sweet almond.
After i use naked or james brown serum.

Im fighting the compulsion to dig out the frizz ease!!! Where am i going wrong?

Hi katiebob,

It’s hard to say why it’s feeling weird. When i first tried CG I bought lots of products and my hair felt rough and wiry after I used them a few times. They all contained coconut though so I think my hair isn’t keen on that ingredient. You could be the same.

I can’t really tell from your description what has happed to your hair. Another option is that its overconditioned. Overconditioned hair feels mushy when wet for want of a better description.

I’m not sure if coconut can act as a protein- hopefully someone else can chip in there. If your hair dries and feels dry and straw like, that could be as a result of too much “protein”. I can’t tolerate much protein, I have to rotate products. If I use a conditioner with protein in it twice in a row my hair gets rough and tangled.

Sorry if that wasn’t much help !

When was the last time you had it cut, it could be due for a trim..?

It has been cut recently. Ill try laying off the coconut and see if that helps.

I bought the morrisons apple at lunch so will give that a try.

Thanks for your help. :-D

Hmmm… After a wash with lo poo and no coconut products my hair feels much softer. Think i may have cracked it. One more co wash should confirm it. :-D

I’m glad you’ve found a solution katiebob.

It did sound like your hair reacts to coconut the same way mine does- which is a pain as people seem to want to put it in everything, lol.
