Hi there,
Please help me before my head explodes!I love this forum, but boy is there a lot of info to sift through and with 2 little ones I don’t have much spare time!
I think my hair is 3a+, long, medium density, and more than that I have no idea! Doesn’t take a lot to get good shaped ringlet curls. But since having my second child it just hasn’t looked as good, hence why I hunted down the curly girl method.
I have used Pantene curly mouse for years but the formula has changed and is very drying now.

So since trying CGM I cowash with Tresemme Naturals and then use an Aesops condtitiner (which I feel I must use up!)  purchased testers of Miss Jessies Quick Curls (which felt good but since discovered not CG), Jessicurl Rockin Ringlets (which didn’t give much hold and found drying). Last wash used Naked Leave in then Jessicurl but still drying.

So then begun hunting for a different product to style with and have now hit information overload, and my children risk becoming neglected!
Looked at the KCCC, but would that be too heavy and drying?  KJCCC lite, Biolage Gelee, I could go on! I have only ever washed/styled once a week, so need something that isn’t heavy maintenance!

I daren’t look into deep treatment/protein issue for fear of social services knocking at my door!

Thanks in advance
X Did try attaching a pic but wouldn’t allow me!

Hi CurlyRach,

I know there’s so much info its baffling.

Sometimes getting the right leave in is half the battle, as that can help counteract the dryness of any styler.

Im sure the naked leave in has protein in it. As I’m not sure of your hairs texture can’t say if it would generally like protein. Finer hair tends to prefer it, coarser hair not so much. But then again I have fine hair and I can only use it now and again, otherwise my hair gets papery and dry feeling. You can always use a little of your rinse out as a leave in. I’ve heard of a few doing that.

Have youi tried any of the stylers you can get in boots ? The umberto giannini curls jelly is well liked. You can get a trial size first. I’d say that’s medium hold. Theres the boots purple essentials gel too. Maybe you can scrunch a little of that in for extra hold. As far as DTs go, Naked do one and you can get sachets of it for a £1 in Boots.

I’ve tried KCCC, and I have 3a curls at best and it wasn’t too heavy. Takes a while to work out how much to use though. It was great at cutting out frizz but gave me more elongated curls. It’s quite expensive as stylers go but some swear by it.

The CJ CCCC or CCCC lite may be worth trying. The CCCC original is a heavy creamy texture whereas the lite is more of a lotion. Why don’t you see if you can get some samples ?

Thank you for your replies, I’ve been away on hols and my 5 year old and I have come back with head lice! Eek! Curly girl method on hold! Boy does the hair comb rip my hair even with tons of conditioner, and I thought it would be a nightmare with my little ones long curly hair but she’s been really good.

Funnily enough I have been using umberto giannini curls jelly on top of naked leave in, and I was quite happy, curls not as defined as with Miss Jessies. But now, after raking my hair, I have a lovely halo of frizz and curls are less springy.

Think I shall have to wait til my visitors have definitely departed, get my hair trimmed and start again!
