If it had gone on top of the wardrobe I’d never have found it. I don’t understand why I’m down to owning only one scrunchy, there was a bag of them. Puzzled.
My hair was like a bush again this morning. Had a call from the hospital just before midnight to say David was in an enormous amount of pain. Another call at 2am to say the doc had been to the ward and thinks it’s appendicitis. So I spent the night fully dressed on the sofa watching telly and messing with my hair.
Appendicitis? Is this the cause of all the pain he’s had - in which case why wasn’t it picked up earlier…...
......many questions to ask the doc and the consultant. He’s going for a scan and x-ray later.
This tale of woe, you really couldn’t make it up, as they say.
Back to my bushy hair. Washed with black soap, used up the remainder of Adsa’s jojoba condish as rinse-out (yay, another bottle hits the recycling bin), GFR&S as a leave-in and then used Curls in a Bottle as it’s not been out of the cupboard for some time. Brushed through with tangle teezer, scrunched and plopped. Still plopped.
I feel a bit better for sticking my head under a cold shower.
.....but it was a good hair day. Using Curls in a Bottle in rotation is clearly the way forward. Nice and shiny, bouncy and well-defined curls. Despite the pants wet weather.
Washed with black soap, used GFR&S as rinse-out, AOHR as leave-in. Smoothed through some Curls in a Bottle (a la serum use as per thread) follwed by some Umberto Giannini gel. Brushed it all through with Tangle teezer and currently plopped.
I was going to walk to town but it’s raining, poo.
Long day yesterday with David in and out of theatre, I was at the hospital 12 hours and feel a bit wrecked today. However, they’ve taken the evil tenckhoff catheter out of his abdomen and the nerve pain abated almost immediately - fantastic. They’ve stuck a line into his chest for dialysis until they sort out his arm. His blood results are bad again so he’ll have dialysis today through his new line. And hopefully he’ll be home soon and this will all be a distant memory - especially the 9 attempts it took to get arterial blood out of his wrist yesterday - made me feel icky and I’m not squeamish.
If I’d left it to dry completely before I scrunched the crunch, I think I would have had an AMAZING hair day. As it is, I didn’t have time to dry completely, it was probably 80%, and it’s pretty good. Very well-defined and clumpy curls, loads of shine.
I need to try the CiaB an Umberto Giannini combo when I’ve more time to spare.
This morning I decided to work at home, and put some porridge on to cook (I usually have my brekkie at work). I forgot about it until I wondered where the burning smell was coming from. I shot downstairs to find the pan belching out horrible smoke, my chest and throat still hurt. The house absolutely stinks, I’ve got all the doors and windows open and little bowls of hot water with essential oils in to make it smell a bit better. My hair reeked so I’ve had to wash.
Thanks girls, he looked really well this afternoon
After galloping about the North West all day, hospital visiting, meal out with daughter and lots of other stuff, I came home - and the house is REALLY smelly. Have bulk purchased Febreeze-type sprays and soaked everything.
And it WAS a good hair day:) usual routine with Curls in a Bottle and Umberto Giannini over the top. This seems to be a really good combo BUT I can feel my hair starting to rebel against the CiaB again after 2 uses.
what about some scented candles? (obviously for when you are in!) (I have the micro porridge in the morning which is really ok. 2 mins in micro - just in case you haven’t every tried it)
Thanks CM - strangely, I’m right off porridge at the moment! But will try some scented candles - I’ve been leaving EO about all over the place so some places smell nicely of lavender or ylang ylang, but the rest…...YUK
Last night when I got back from London I retrieved my parcel from my neighbour, and this morning have used the KCKT and KCCC for the first time. Still plopped, verdict later!
Dear Diary, I have been very tardy in keeping you updated but it’s been completely mad here.
Since receiving my KCCC, KCKT and Crown Pride organic milk I’ve been experimenting. No surprises there!
Conclusions:
KCKT is fantastic for slip, but doesn’t provide me with anywhere near enough moisture.
KCCC gave great curl definition and little frizz - and what frizz there was is because I kept fiddling, and we all know the consequences of a good fiddle
I’ve not used the organic milk yet.
So far, a winning combination seems to be:
AOHR (which I use slightly diluted as it goes through my hair better) with KCCC over the top and some of the delicious smelling Fuzzy Duck gel over the top. Brush through with the good old Tangle Teezer, a plop and then diffuse. This leaves a little crunch, which I scrunch out with some Anita Grant Cafe Latte.
Result: shiny, bouncy and well-defined curls which, with the FD gel, gives good second day hair.
Happy
I’m still using liquid black soap for washing, and have added a good helping of lavender EO to the bottle - it smells wonderful. Next time I will make my own liquid black soap as I have plenty of the solid version, and will add a different flavour - possibly grapefruit. Yum.
Update on David: he’s getting regular dialysis, since his abdominal catheter was removed he’s not had one twinge of pain (co-incidence or what!) and will have his vein and artery connected in his arm next month - they’ll continue to use the chest line until that’s all sorted. All very positive, it’s great after those dreadful weeks! He has to stay in hospital though, so he gets a regular dialysis slot faster, but if he’s not plugged in he’s allowed out, which is great.
I’ve been going through a huge number of tests to see if I can do a living donation. Umpteen blood tests for everything you can think of, gamma camera pictures last Friday (that was interesting) to check function, Tuesday was glomerular filtration rate with radiation injections and hourly blood tests (I look and feel like a pin cushion), yesterday was full medical, x-rays and ECG. End of the month is ultrasound, more bloods and a CT scan. I have to get my BMI below 30 (the stopping smoking weight HAS TO GO). If all of that’s ok then it’s an independant assessment to make sure I’m doing this for the right reasons. At any point they might tell me I’m not suitable, or they’ve found something wrong with me - but it you don’t buy the lottery ticket you’ll never win - and if it means David has a chance of having a better quality of life, then bring it on!
(the kitchen still pongs but the rest of the house is OK now)
