After MANY disasterous cuts (incuding one where the manager phoned me afterwards to ask me if I was OK with my cut, as he had seen me leaving the salon with a horrific head of frizzy hair) I have found three reliable curly hair hairdressers in London.
You’ll see them through some of these posts, but basically, Michael Price and Claudio from HairandMakeupDept http://www.hairandmakeupdept.com/#/hair/4547854833 have never disappointed. They both understand curly hair - including my annoying wavy/ringletty type and do both dry cutting (to test the shape) and dry hair sensibly with curl cream and a diffuser.
A not-very-well-kept secret is Stephanie working freelance out of Denmark Street, (Constantinou Brothers, 18 Denmark Street). I found her details on a curly forum post about 2 years back, and she has always done a stellar job with my hair for £40 a time - which is pretty good value compared to the other options. She also dry cuts, and has a technique for shaping hair once dry that thins it out without screwing up the shape or cutting out the curl. She doesn’t dry and style it as nicely as HairandMakeupDept, but I go to her for the cut and then style it myself at home. I have had two different types of cut with her - a bob and a mid-length - and both times she has cut a great shape and kept a good curl. I thoroughly recommend her, but you’ll have to go and book an appt. direct as I can’t share her mobile number here, and she doesn’t have a website.
