I just wondered if anyone would like to know what effect their curls have on their preferred partner of choice… or general pulling power. wink

An ex always used to love my hair on day 2 after I’d straightened it as it was still very smooth but the curl had started to come back (but couldn’t understand why I didn’t want to spend the time straightening it and THEN curling it).

Now, when I’m out I definitely think my hair affects my confidence, if I’m (increasingly less) wearing it straight I definitely feel much more sensible and uptight where as when it’s curly, and especially over the last week of so where it’s been much improved, I feel really confident and like a super version of me! And they do say confidence is one of the most attractive things in a person (confidence also improved by lots of wine), so now I’m just waiting for George Clooney to come knocking.  kiss

Well a few years ago I let my sister talk me into strt straightening my hair, on the basis that she reckoned all men much preferred straight hair - including my DH LOL
Just last week though my lovely DH told me he liked my hair much better curly - even when it was having a mad frizzy day LOL LOL
But you know what I don’t really mind that much anymore - I like my hair curly, and it’s how I was made so that’s good enough for me LOL LOL

My other half prefers my hair straight - he loves when I’ve been to the hairdresser and she “does it properly”  confused

Workmates have mentioned that I suit it best curly and I like it better that way, so hubby’s out of luck!

My DH says he loves my curly hair because it’s a part of me….awwww smile  I do know that he prefers it a bit longer though.  I wore it really short for a long time because I didn’t know what else to do with it.  I still don’t, but I got tired of the super-short hair myself.

Hey Cornish Curls

Great thread! I have to say that when I look back of pictures with me and my husband over the years I know I have had more hairstyles than Oprah! He looks the same for the most part and there I am long straight, short straight and all different hair colours. I was unhappy with my hair so really did’nt care what I did to it. Now 1 Year 6 months later since I made the choice to accept my curls my self confidence in the beauty of my Curls has grown leaps and bounds. I had the hair I always dreamed of the whole time! I try not to look back in regret at my decision to chemically straighten my hair at 16. But Boy what a waste of time, money and frustration! The freedom of accepting your curls and dare I say it frizz and all is awesome. Yes my hair gets frizzy. Yes I now know how to tame the frizz when I want to or not. It is all good now wink Life is a never ending thread of adventures and learning about yourself and appreciating everything you have and knowing even when you can’t see it you are BEAUTIFUL and worthy. Thanks for this post Cornish Curls!

All my boyfriends have loved my hair as it is, even male friends, I’ve only straightened it a handful of times and my ex liked it because it was close to my waist but they love the curls..lol they all freak out when I say ” I’m getting my hair cut” but they only know me with curly hair

Whenever I straighten my hair people are mostly in awe that I manged to do so without ghds. But they, including guys, always say that curly hair is better, probably as it’s more out of the ordinary and unusual. However, I do feel more confident when my hair is straight, atleast that way I know it’s not frizzy! That said, I feel more comfortable and at ease when my hair is in its natural state.

I got my first compliment since going CG today though!  I left it out but I had a few of the front parts pinned back. I thought it was turning frizzy so I was about to tie it up but before I had the chance my lovely friend told me that it looks really nice so instead I strutted, :D

Wooo congrats on the compliment!
I Prefer my hair curly, it suits me more. But then when it’s straight it’s really long - so I’m waiting for long curls!

After 5 years of getting my hair chemically straightened, I finally decided enough was enough and to embrace my natural curl. I really like my curly hair and get compliments by friends and people at work, but I always think it looks quite messy and frizzy - I never feel preened with it curly! Anyway, my boyfriend always says “why don’t you go to the hairdressers and get it ‘styled’?” I tell him, hairdressers can’t even cut it properly, let alone ‘style’ it!! lol
well, i’m trying the CG method now, so not long til i have lovely hair I hope!

Absolutley it is so hard finding stylist who know what to with curls as long as you keep your curls hydrated and moist frizz won’t be an issue. I hope the CG method helps you smile

You know, I think it was half ‘cause of my ex that I took so long to come around to wearing my hair curly again for the first time in years. See, he really liked my hair straight, and any time he saw it curly- y’know, if he called over and I was having a bumming-around-the-house day or too busy to spend a half hour straightening it- he’d complain about how I was “letting myself go”. It was awful! It was like I had to keep up this constant battle against my hair to look halfway respectable and decent and attractive, y’know? Owch!

Anyway, he’s history now (woo!) and in the past few months I’ve noticed something. Although I still have this little voice in my head telling my that my curls are all “messy” and “not-respectable” and “unattractive”.. that’s totally the opposite of what I’m hearing from other people. I wore my hair straight a little while ago to see a (rather cute.. ahem) friend of mine, who then told me that he thought that not only that my hair was really cute curly, but that it’s a bit flat when it’s straight, and it’s way more “me” when it’s curly! I was so surprised! And also delighted- getting complimented on my hair in its natural state is so much better than being complimented on the more ‘fake’ straight style, you know? And then last week I went into college, said ‘hi’ to the girl I study with, and got back “Oh hi! wow, your curls are really cute today, they’re all bouncy!”. I kinda couldn’t believe it- I had gone in thinking “argh, it’s all windy, my hair’s going to be awful”.

So I’m slooooowly coming around to the idea that maybe my curls are something that I can actually like, as opposed to just tolerate. It’s awesome!

My husband doesn’t mind my hair curly or straight - I don’t think he actually notices the difference LOL

The street I live in has quite a few older people (70+) and there’s a couple of the the ladies who EVERY time they see me always comment about how much they like my hair. I was complaining to one of them today about how I’m struggling to find a job and she said “well I don’t know why they don’t choose you - I’d give you a job with your lovely hair!” LOL Made me smile anyway!
