you have beautiful hair, i imagine it would be quite “easy” to maintain. Either that or you learnt the hard way lol!
So what do you like about type 4 hair?

Yeah it is pretty easy. I just like the fact that long or short it just looks really edgy and fasionable. I like the tight corkscrews that are really boingy. Also, it can just look really biiiig and diva-ish!! Love it.
Is it hard to maintain? I.e do you have to wet every day?

Hee! I wish I was edgy and fashionable cheese

If I’m wearing mine ‘out’ (not in a protective style) I spritz with some water (going to try adding Lavender EO, come winter), otherwise its good for a couple of days (it helps that I deep conditioner like a FIEND regularly).

hi ella,

personally, my hair is quite easy to maintain as its not really prone to tangling and is quite soft. and it looks wavy or curly( corkscrew depending on what i do).  . i could wet it daily and only do so if i want the curl to look defined. i can get away with using oils and sheabutter on a daily basis without having to wet it all the time. i dont really ;ilke wetting it everday to be honest.
my issue is “poof control on day 2 if i twist it and the urge to brush/ comb it when its dry which i know is a no no lol!

I wish I could say the same. It took me 10+ years of relaxers to accept what grew out of my head. And another few weeks after my bc to truly fall in love with it.

Thanks! I’m not very creative with styles so I mainly focus on its health (I baby my ends like crazy), I’m still learning to love the detangling process (all my guy friends mock me for having a ‘detangling day’  red face ).

Thankies! My hair is very ambivalent, one half has coily springlets and the other just frizzes when dry, I’m trying out Cynthiarf’s method (on youtube) of finger detangling to battle this cool grin

@Kinkycrown: I get you, but now you’re there you love it, right?  LOL

Hi kinkycrown your hair is fab! I had my hair relaxed for 17 years!!! I know you should’nt have regrets but I do so regret ever relaxing my hair. When I made the decision to stop I can’t tell you what a relief it was for me to finally get off the Lye! Sweet relief to have my own hair back! smile

I know, Kinky Crown your hair is fabulous!
Keisha, I had my hair relaxed when I was 13 because nobody in my family has curls at all. They are mainly Chinese! Lol.
I really regret it, because the lady relaxed my hair and cut about a foot off downer
My mum was crying when I had it done lol awww, but she’s sooo happy I have my curls back now cheese

hello kinkycrown,

i can definately relate to what you said about learning to accept your hair the way it is. ive been natural for just over ten years but chose to press it once a month. its only in the last few months that ive decided to leave the straight irons alone. im suprised i didnt ruine my hair. i get it trimmed/cut alot which probably helped.

i like the way you wear yours and its thick which is good too. do you tend to wear it out most of the time?
