Hello Gals!

Does anyone know how curly hair should be cut? I have been to numerous hairdressers accross the UK and the only method that has been used on me is cutting with a razor!! I beileve this has given me a lot of frizz and curious as to what type of cut I should be asking the hairdresser for??

Thanks

Nouran

Hi Nouran,

When i book a haircut, i emphasis the point that i have really curly hair and i need someone who has experience cutting curly hair, if they try and palm you off saying they are all trained to cut curly hair question them to make sure!  I also ask for a dry cut, i dont like having a wet cut as i find hairdressers start treating it as straight hair which is no bloomin’ use!  The dry cut also ensures they dont cut too much off!

Hope that helps!

Hi Nouran - don’t let them cut it with a razor - it does cause frizz when it starts growing.  (It used to be the way they all cut curly hair!) If possible I would get it cut dry but if not keep emphasing how much it springs up - hopefully the stylist will look at your hair before the start cutting.  A wet cut is ok - its only the fear of them cutting too much off!  Also when I got mine trimmed recently I asked her not to do that snipping thing at the ends that they all seem to do now - I just asked her to cut it across.  Have a look at this thread http://www.britishcurlies.co.uk/curl_forum/viewforum/20/ and see if there are any places near you have that have been recommended. smile
