Meet the Founder: Marsha Coulton

The idea to start Curl Junkie(r) began with a simple suggestion made to me while still in beauty school.
I had left my prior lives behind (Wall Street, Consulting, etc.) to pursue the dream that I had since I was about 10 years old, to become a hair stylist.

In 2004, I decided to go after my goal and quit my job. I then enrolled in one of the top beauty schools in New York City. It was at that school that I drew attention, not just for being one of the few girls at the school to wear her hair in its natural curly/kinky state, but also for specializing in curly hair of all types and really caring about the health of the hair.

Because of my obsession with curly hair and my dissatisfaction with most of the products for curly hair already on the market, I really began to scrutinize the products and research ingredients. Then one day someone said to me "why don't you just make your own products." My immediate response was "Yeah right, I wouldn't know where to start." Well, here I am 4 years later and running strong with Curl Junkie(r). Now, thanks to the support and input of friends, family (including my 19 month old son, whose fine, curly hair has used many of the products), customers, and clients, I've been able to take the line to the next level and develop "cruelty-free", naturally based products that I am really proud of. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
