have tried so hard with this product. my hair usually likes light gels and loves serums. Ive tried this on wet, damp, almost dry and dry hair and havent been impressed. when used on wet hair as directed it makes my hair feel rough like its coated in paint or something, ive had to rewash my hair on more than one occasion. im really not that fussy when it comes to products and ive never even felt inclined to write a review but jeezus this stuff is bad! id expect something costing that much to at least be half decent.

I have naturally 3c curls but really thick so for the last 15yrs have been using a mild no-lye relaxer to loosen curls and making it easier to blow dry straight. I never leave it curly anymore as gets far to frizzy. So wanted a product I could use while on holiday so didn’t need to bother with hairdryer.
Unfortunately this is not the product, as you have to use it while hair is soaking wet it takes forever to dry. Plus once it has dried there is a lot of shrinkage and the hair which is usually very soft and bouncy is dry. The following day my hair looked like it had been crinkled. Not a good look. I would say that this is a good product if you have naturally 2a-3a hair and just want something to reduce frizz. I also tried quench curl moisturizer and curl soufflé which didn’t preform any better. They may work better to slick hair down when wet if you want a ponytail.
I tried crown products and much better results.

When I bought this gel/serum, I planned to use it as described (after cleansing/conditioning). For this purpose, to put it all over my hair, I am not satisfied. It separates my curls into much smaller curls and the shrinkage of my curls becomes more visible when applied in all my hair. But the high rating is because I now use it as a additional gel instead. I just put it on parts of my hair that need that little extra touch. Because this gel is so much better than any other gel I have tried before. It is light (I get great results also when i put it on dry hair), almoust scentless (great for putting over other products already in hair, with scent), gives sheen and holds my curls in place but without getting stiff!
So this would be my no1 option for replacing a gel/serum, but this could never replace just ONE styling product for me.
