  1. Nice results but icky ingredients

Posted by Unknown on 15th May 2012

I loved the smell and consistency of this leave in - I mostly used this product as a styler with a gel on top and felt that it did a good job of keeping the curls moisterised and shiny, although i can achieve less frizz with other leave ins so I wouldn't say is GREAT - just good. I do not like the ingredients and for that reason will not repurchase - the price is high for what it does too. I will happily finish the bottle (nearly have) but we shall part ways once I am finished.

  2. Not amazing for hair with a range of curl patterns

Posted by naz on 12th Apr 2012

I am black Jamaican with a random mixed heritage (Sicilian/indian/chinese) and my hair has curl patterns that range from 3a-4a.

This product only worked well when my hair was wet and I had to section my hair and finger twist the product through each section for it to minimise frizz. Saying that it only made my 3a/3b curls nice and defined, the other sections of my hair were very dry.

  3. Good but not great

Posted by Unknown on 5th Jan 2012

I used this leave in for about two years and it left my hair soft and defined when combined with a curl gel and is even great to use for hold and smoothing out frizz for 2nd day hair. I do not however like the smell of this product at all but continued to use it because it works! That being said, I have had to stop as it requires the use of a sulphate shampoo to get rid of the silicone in this product and sulphate shampoos dry out my hair and scalp VERY badly. I have discontinued using this as a result which is a real shame!

  4. Has to be done right...

Posted by Yasmina on 4th Jan 2012

This product only works on soaking wet hair. If used on partially dry hair or dry hair, then you are wasting product & your money. Soaking wet hair is the key & it works wonderfully. The only reason I did not give this product 5 stars is because, while my hair looked awesome, there was no moisture. My hair needs moisture to grow. So, while it made my curls look very well put together & polished, the 'look' was only for that moment. For the long term & to reach my hairs maximum growth potential, this is not the product for me. I am looking for polished curls AND healthy curls, only a moisturizing product can accomplish that.

  5. Left my hair sticky and crunchy

Posted by Unknown on 10th Jul 2011

Beware if your hair is glycerin sensitive ,this product will dry your hair out within minutes.
I actually thrown away mine,it was that bad .
I d say is more a styling product than a leave in .Leave ins are meant to make your hair soft and moisturized this one is more like a lightweight sticky ,waxy curl lotion.

  6. not for me ...

    Posted by Afro.Girl on 27th Mar 2011

This was one of the first curling / styling products I tried on my hair. It did not define my curls and left my hair dry feeling and looking. I applied it in plethora of ways, if anything it managed to create more poof than curls or coil. I've had much better results leaving conditioners in my hair as styling aids than this junk. This may work for people who have fine thin hair. I have uber thick Afro hair which needs so much more than this product line can give. Its not the worse product i've put in my hair BUT for the price its certainly is not the best.

  7. mixed emotions...

Posted by GraceLuvsU on 18th Feb 2011

This was the first product i tried on my natural 3c very thick type curls... i loved how defined my curls were. However, my hair is so thick & i had to use a lot. It is very good to use after washing/wetting hair... although the more i wet my hair, it caused my hair to look dry- This is not a daily moisturiser! My hair is very thick and the bottle doesn't last long enough x

  8. perfect styling product on my 3c/4a hair

Posted by KayDeeBee on 26th Dec 2010

I first used this when I had the big chop, I even bought the large size bottle, my sister thought I had a perm as it defined my curls so well. I then tried to find styling products with more natural ingredients without much luck. A lot of products that are raved about don't do much for my hair.
I was sent a sample of this so tried it again and I really like the definition and hold it gives my hair but it looks natural at the same time with plenty of movement. I also get less shrinkage with this
I don't have to use much of it so the sample will last me 3 or 3 applications. I wouldn't use this as a daily moisturiser but its the best styling product i've found.I used it over Curl Harmony Hair Milk without any problem

  9. Brilliant

Posted by Jo on 9th Aug 2010

I started using this for my daughters hair which is really curly 3c/4a type and i must say i never knew how curly her hair was until i used this product. It brings out the curls really well and it last a few days too. When i run out i see the difference immediately so this product is a must!

  10. so soft

Posted by 4a coils on 15th Jul 2010

I bought this product a couple of weeks ago with no idea what to expect. My hairs not curly or wavy it's definitely afro so for me there was no definition benefits. However i love the way hair feels so soft and light weight. It very lightly fragranced but sum how manages to deliver great moisture. What i love most is the way this products suits all the different hair textures on my head. they've got the blend just rite!

  11. Don't believe the bad reviews!

Posted by Unknown on 30th May 2010

Those who experience cruncy hair are using too much! You have to use the product right for it to work. You should apply it to quite damp hair evenly. You should't touch your hair or brush it after applying the cream because frizz will set in. I have used several products over the years but mixed chicks is by far the best

  12. Love the idea, but not the result...

Posted by Janja (3b-3c) on 7th Oct 2009

When I first heard of Mixed Chicks leave-in product, I had to try it out cause it seemed to be the product I have always been looking for! I could skip all those steps after cleansing and conditioning my hair and replace it with just a single product that would work as a leave-in, a styler, a moisturizer, a de-frizzer... but of course, this was a little too good to be true.
I give it an average rating cause it works really ok, it makes my curls soft and defined when applied, but after some hours they feel very dry. Although it works fine the first day, I always wish to rinse the product out of my hair the next days. It performes well, but I don't feel confortable with this product in my hair.
The fact that it contains more types of parabens than I even knew existed, makes me not want to purchase it again (I know this fear of parabens is a bit over-dimensioned, but when there are good options without it - why not?).

  13. don't believe the hype!

Posted by ballu on 27th Sep 2009

i have used mixed chicks leave in, i like the smell,i like the packaging, i like the definition to an extent-i can't give this a good review in earnest as i was left with hard crunchy curls, major shrinkage and all the natural bounce and life taken out of my hair.i do- rather i did, use this to slick back my hair on ponytail days or while wearing my hair in plaits and twists to smooth back the tufty new growth at the front

  14. Great Leave-in!

Posted by Unknown on 17th Aug 2009

I use the Mixed Chicks line and must say that their stuff is pretty damn good! The leave-in conditioner provides moisture, curl definition and no frizz - perfect!

  15. Does little to prevent frizz

Posted by Unknown on 11th Aug 2009

The mixed chicks line were the first products I tried this product on my hair when I decided to wear my hair curly for the first time and it turned into a disaster.
The Leave-in conditioner, for me, was the worst as it left my hair crunchy and there was still frizz. Not to mention, my hair became more and more frizzier throughout the day after using this product.

  16. Very soft

Posted by Unknown on 2nd Aug 2009

i love this product! it makes my hair soooo soft and nice to touch, it combats some frizz but not alot...i always use additional product.
my mum even uses it on her straight hair and she love it 2!!

  17. No. 1 Choice.

Posted by buddhamum on 31st Jul 2009

I'm a mum of a mixed race toddler with a gorgeous full head of curls. This product will make your or your child's hair brushable and tangle free with lovely defined curls and no sticky or oily feeling. Step 1. Use a spray bottle full of water to lightly dampen the curls. Step 2. Rub a dollop of the Mixed Chicks Leave In Conditioner between your hands and spread evenly throughout the hair. (Adjust the size of the dollop depending on the quantity and consistency of the curls. This is trial and error!) Step 3. I use a 'Tangle Teaser' brush to brush it through. Then just let the curls dry naturally. For mums of mixed race, or any kids with curls, please don't despair if your little one cries the moment they catch sight of your brush. This product will really minimise the pulling and the tangles especially when used in conjunction with the Tangle Teaser brush.Don't give up! Tears will always pull at a mum's heart-strings, but I find that the moment my daughter is distracted by something that interests her she doesn't even notice she's getting her hair brushed! I recommend this product to all mums of curly-haired kids.

  18. defined curls

Posted by Georgie on 27th May 2009

good result, my curls were defined and without much frizz but the best thing was there was no crunchy, stiff or sticky hold. I would definitely use this again.
