this gives my daughters type 4 curls the best definition. I use it after spritzing her hair with water or a moisturising (home made) spray and then apply a 2-3 gloopy 10p size blobs of this to her shoulder length hair.
Love that it is all natural, smells great and love the results. Defined curls with very little frizz, they do still shrink up (nothing is stopping these babies from curling up on themselves) but we love how her hair looks and it's great for quick wash and goes in the morning before school. We have not had any problems at all with it leaving the hair crunchy, we literally use it and leave it to dry and work its magic.
Only down side for me is the texture makes me feel a little sick if I dwell on it too long, it's kind of a snotty, phlegmy texture (really sorry but its true) and if I think about that too much it makes me cockle. However this texture makes it easy to work through her curls so it's a win on that.

3a curls. Had to use so much to cover my hair that it makes for poor value. It did really shrink up my curls but man the frizz was insane. I am prone to frizz but even after using all combos of products and frizz fighting monsters this gel remained the problem.
It is really good for 2nd day smoothing.

Now I am a self confessed product junkie, so when I saw the amazing reviews for this product I had to get involved. I absolutely love KCCC, however I wanted to get another gel just so I could alternate and make the KCCC last longer, because I don't have the budget to be buying that every few months. So I bought this and excitedly put it on after jumping out of the shower and using my normal leave in..
WELL, it's safe to say the whole experience was a hot mess. The consistency is so watery I felt like pouring it on my hair just to get any level of hold, and even when my hair was still soaking wet I could already tell it wasn't going to stretch my 3c/4a curls at all. The main issue came about 20 minutes after I applied it, as my head started to feel really warm. When I looked in the mirror, my neck and face had turned bright red, so clearly I had some for of allergic reaction, and ended up having to wash it straight out. Safe to say I won't be using it again.

This product was great, like a cheaper version of KCCC. Gives great defined curls, full of shine and moisture. A must keep :)

I use plenty of this to 'set' my curls in place whilst they dry, yes it dries crunchy, but then you flip your head over and loosen the roots, then scrunch your hair upwards with your fingers (only once totally dry). The crunch goes and you are left with fab bouncy curls. I have 3b hair.

I bought this after it was recommended for my 3 yr old, I was hopeful with these excellent reviews that it would give definition to her frizzy Afro, she is mixed race white/caribbean but unfortunately it left my daughters hair crunchy -and dulled the shine which I really dislike almost as much as the wet look and the consistency of the jelly I found a little slimy. It did define the curl without the frizz though so if you don't mind crunch then this may be your answer.

I love this product and have only used it once.
Ive got thick 3c and 4a hair and i say a little can go far. I used it to do a single stand twist out and wow, i have lovely coils all week, just sprits with water and the curls pop back. I am amazed and the price is great.
I did used the coconut cupuacu butter under and over this, for added shine.. this is it now. love it!

i use this in my baby daughters hair - it looks so sleek when finished - a slight crunch - but i am fine with that as there is no more frizz. I travelled for a total of 15 hours - but her hair stayed so fresh and was perfect . I love this product - def recommend.
i can finally throw away all those products i have been trying and that did not work!!!

j'aime beaucoup ce produit. il définit les boucles sans assécher les cheveux. il sent bon. et en plus il n'a pas un prix exorbitant. bref, que du bon. un must have!

I purchased this product after reading that it was similar to Kinky-Curly Curling Custard and I must say that it is much, much better than that.
Why? Because it has more moisturising properties, more natural oils and an amazing scent. I will be checking out more of Darcy's products with a healthy and realistic enthusiasm.

I'm loving the DB products. This gel is sooooo concentrated. I need the smallest amount and I'm good to go. It has medium to strong hold so I use the Madagascar Vanilla Styling Creme to scrunch out the crunch. Love it. BTW I have 3c-4b hair and use a leave in underneath it. It works great on all my hair types.

I received this and tried it straight away on dry, already styled hair. I found a tiny amount goes a long way! Just hook some on fingertips and emulsify on hands, then smooth over whole head, then individual curls and finally volumising hair on crown......really nice looking smooth natural curls.
However, I tried it on wet/towel-blotted curls as a sole styler and it was a complete disappointment to me. I should add that we do live in a hard water area and that affects how lots of products work on my hair (my hair's really different when I visit soft water areas). I find it hard to categorise my curls - 3b - 3c - 4a??? White girl curls but definitely afro white! (that's what my Jamaican hairdresser calls 'em!).

I love this product and find that it is perfect for my type 3b curls. I only have to use a small amount and it provides excellent hold. The hold doesnt seem to last very long though (I agree with Melika that it does seem to be pretty much gone by the end of the day) but for the time that it is working, it works very effectively!

i like this a lot better than the kinky curly curling custard, which leave my hair feeling a bit dry and crunchy. this leaves my 3b/c hair with defined curls without a crispy feel to it, however, i have noticed that this causes a LOT more shrinkage than the KCCC, which i didnt like. i use it on top of DB shea butter curl moisturising cream and it works fine. it smells lovely too.

I like the texture, smell and the all natural ingredients of it. It defines my 3b curls rather well and I have plenty of crunch to scrunch which should denote a good hold. It's weird because the hold doesn't last. It's very shiny, beautiful just after drying, but at the end of the day, it's already gone. On 2nd day, it seems like there is nothing left on my hair. Moreover, it weights down my hair, whatever leave-in I put under it. Maybe I put ton much of it, but if I put less, there will be no hold at all.

The consistency is like KCCC (a liquidy gel) and I used a leave-in under it. I had tight, shiny ringlets - very much like KCCC. Great stuff!

Okay I’ve had this for months. So it deserves a review!. Well it didn’t work for me at all! I got no definition; it didn’t give a toss about my coils, no shine nothing. It just didn’t like my 4a/b hair! Looking at the reviews it would appear it’s more suited to 3abc hair! Probably that why!.

This gel is great, its a thin gel which you would think wouldnt give you much hold. But it DOES and you dont need as much as you think. very easy to distribute through hair leaving it defined and frizz free.

This jelly has a light, fresh smell and its consistency is kind of gel-waterish (feels very natural and it is not sticky). I found it a bit hard to apply evenly through hair and I really felt I needed a lot of product to get any results at all and even then I was not satisfied with the results. No clumping for me, no soft curls and no persistant hold. I guess I also wanted more of a 'wash and go' product, because I read that a lot of people are comparing this with the KCCC (which I can use on its own with good results). For my hair, this one does not work on its own at all.

I have very thick, coarse curls and this product is brilliant. It smoothes and softens my curls, giving them definition without the brittle feeling of many others of this type of product.
