What inspired you to join the Trepadora team?
Having curly hair myself I UNDERSTAND the frustration when you visit a salon who have no idea how to cater for your texture. I’ve actually had the embarrassment of being turned away in the past because they just “don’t do my hair”. As a stylist with eight years experience I was really excited to join Trepadora to embrace the cutting and styling of curls the way it should be, catered to each individual.
What can our clients expect when they come in for a salon appointment?
The team here and myself are so passionate about curls, your curls as well as our own! We look to be supportive, understanding and to make you feel comfortable. I will give you a thorough consultation in order to make you feel happy and confident in knowing that we are both on the same page. All of our haircuts are dry (unless you have a mild wave). The reason we cut it dry is so that we can see your curl pattern. Most of us have multiple curl textures so they need to be cut dry to achieve a cohesive look.
I’ve had my hair cut WET, then had the trauma of someone attempting to blow-dry my hair straight (which in their defense takes them a hell of a long time). I then go home and wash my hair and discover four inches have been taken off instead of the 1 ½ inches I asked. For curly hair shrinkage is a huge factor to consider. By cutting your hair dry we reduce the shrinkage, there will be NO surprises as you will see how much is length is coming off, how it bounces up and the shape it creates. This puts both yourself as a client and me as a hairdresser at ease!
I’ve had endless headaches from people attempting to detangle my hair DRY with a very fine tooth comb. Not only does it hurt, the frizz factor is outrageous. We do ask for you to visit us with your hair detangled and styled as you would normally but have no fear, all further detangling is done wet with our amazing Babassu Quench Leave-In Curl Primer or Quinoa Repair Deep Conditioner.
Wash, Condition & Style
After I cut your hair you will then be washed, conditioned and styled.
As your hair is being washed and styled I will talk you through which products from the Trepadora range I will be using. I will show you how to use them, how much product to use and when. Do not panic though, you do not need to remember it all whilst you are drying as I will write it all down in as much detail as you need on an aftercare card for you to take home, cocktailed to your curls wants, needs, routine and lifestyle.
What are your favourite Trepadora products?
My ultimate favourite products from cleansing to styling are:
Gojiberry Mint Reviving Hair Rinse
I love the deep refreshing cleanse you receive from this gentle lathering, SLS-Free cleansing experience. Not only does it smell divine, but it is moisturising, softens curls, stimulates hair growth and encourages a healthy scalp! Depending on how often you wash your hair the Gojiberry Mint Reviving Hair Rinse is great for weekly, bi-weekly or even monthly deep cleanse! You could alternate this between the Hibiscus Pink Cleansing Clay-Wash for a more hydrating cleanse or co-wash with our Coconut Almond Smoothing Conditioner.
Quinoa Repair Deep Conditioner
Absolutely fabulous for dry brittle curls, whether your hair is naturally drier or whether it’s chemically/colour damaged Quinoa Repair Deep Conditioner is your weekly savior! Quinoa is a complete protein so it gives your curls a smoother and silkier feel. This deep conditioner moisturises and repairs the hair and forms a protective barrier to seal the cuticle.
Acai Berry Fix Defining Gel
This medium hold styling product with anti-humidity and anti-frizz benefits are only some of the reasons I love this product, Acai Berry Fix Defining Gel delivers glossy curls with bounce as well as strengthening your hair, making your curls more defined as well as moisturised. This is my key go to product! With its medium hold it’s a good all-rounder for most type of curls.
